BIG Things This Sunday Night
This coming Sunday night we have two BIG things that are getting ready to kick off!
1. A chance to win $50 cash! We’re not going to give you a gift card for somewhere you don’t really want…we’re giving you money! If you came to the lock-in and filled out a card you get a chance to have your name drawn to get $50 that night in youth service.
2. We kick off our new series called “New Years Revolution” that will run the next two weeks. Let the new year kick off the rest of your life in a BIG way.
Feelin’ That Bump–Part Three
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit

So far we’ve seen that our time with Jesus and our interaction with the Holy Spirit give us a huge BUMP in our faith. We get excited when we clearly see Jesus in our lives. We can’t help but feel motivated by the Holy Spirit regardless of what’s going on around us. Now we get to the final bump: being around a person of faith.
Mary had been willing to be the mother of Jesus. She was seen as someone who could carry a Savior. When Elizabeth hears the voice of Mary things start to shift inside of her. Do you have a Mary in your life that lifts your spirits? Do you have a Mary who inspires you and brings the power and presence of God into focus in your life? If not FIND ONE QUICK!

Feelin’ That Bump—Part Two
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Our time with Jesus should produce in us an awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that He would send us the Holy Spirit after He went to heaven. So what does the Holy Spirit do in our life? While this isn’t the whole list, here’s a couple things:
- Teaches us (John 14:26)
- Guides us (John 16:13)
- Shows us Jesus (John 16:14)
- Empowers us (Acts 2)
Jesus’ intention was that the Holy Spirit would be a catalyst to help us accomplish His purposes in the world. As you spend time with Jesus and grow in your awareness of the Holy Spirit you WILL feel that bump of excitement that only God can give. You WILL begin to have a passion for the things of God and the mission that He calls all of us to.

Most of us know the story of the birth of Jesus. In fact, we can tend to overlook it. It’s hard to read something you know so well. This year I decided to intentionally struggle through that attitude. What I found was AWESOME.
Have you ever been so caught up by the presence of something that you couldn’t help but feel an emotional bump (excitement)? I remember one Christmas coming down the stairs of my Grandma’s house and seeing a wrestling ring full of wrestlers (toys obviously…real wrestlers would have wrecked the place). I was so excited that I don’t remember another thing from that day. All I remember was playing with those wrestlers all day long. This kind of excitement is just a fraction of the excitement that flowed through Elizabeth when she was around Jesus for the first time.
When we put ourselves in a position to be around Jesus we start to feel that bump. We get excited about:
- Having a purpose
- Being shown our worth
- Feeling pure love
If you’re feeling down and out, like you need something to push you forward, let me challenge you today to find some time to get around Jesus. I promise that as you do you’ll start feelin’ that bump.
